Texas Lending Laws, A Different Breed
Texas is a vast state and its laws concerning the home lending industry are extremely complex. National lenders and settlement service providers are discovering this. For more than a decade, we have worked with lenders' groups and our state legislators to allow home equity lending in Texas. A generations-old provision in the Texas Constitution had required strict homestead protections, which excluded home equity lending. Now, with new guidelines, we continue to work with lawmakers to refine the process, making it easier for lenders and borrowers.
Special Training - As more and more national lenders do business in Texas, they are discovering that not only are our lending and property laws unique. Also quite unique is the vast State of Texas itself, with its 254 counties. To help lenders understand the complexities better, we provide special, in-depth training by qualified instructors.
